It never ceases to amaze me just how many interesting solutions that UMM-USA produces for problems I didn't even know I had. Here is one fine example. You can see in these images three of the five-piece sanding bar set produced by UMM-USA made from CNC machined aluminum stock into the unique shapes you see here. Unlike wood, foam, or plastic sanding blocks, these will not wear nor warp during sanding which ensures a more predictable result. The five widths (Fine, Small, Medium, Large, and Extra-Large) allow you to cover broad areas or reach into harder to reach surfaces like those wing-fuselage joints on multi-engine aircraft.
The three examples shown here are the fine, small, and extra-large blocks, each measuring about 5.5 inches (14 cm) in length. The extra-large block is about one inch (2.5 cm) wide. If you're trying to sand very small areas, simply wrap sandpaper around the appropriate tip of the sanding block size you need and you can be certain those aluminum blocks will not bend or warp.
These blocks are available individually or as a five-piece set on the UMM-USA website. Give them a try, you won't need to keep those other sanding solutions around.
