Once of the essential tools on my bench is a micro-chisel that can easily remove blocks of unwanted plastic from confined spaces like inside an intake where the result is going to be visible after the kit's assembly. I've used a few chisels and I've had a favorite, but unfortunately when the tips became dull, you replaced them. This is fine for me until I couldn't find a reliable source for replacement tips.
Along comes Trumpeter with a simpler approach to the problem. This is a simple steel chisel that comes in a protective case. The chisel is 2mm wide and cut from the tip of the steel bar. If this one gets dull, you can either replace it (which is cheaper than those replacement tips) or you can take to your favorite shop where professionals can restore the tip. I figure there are a few dozen sharpenings in this tool before you run out of bar to hold in your hand. If you have your own sharpening stone for your knives, you can carefully use that, but please use caution!
This tool is one of several shapes produced by Trumpeter - check your favorite retailer and pick up a few for your own bench!
My sincere thanks to Stevens International for this review sample!
