HobbyZone just released their latest workbench helper, this is the Airbrush Painting Clips Holder. This kit is another good example of their precision CnC machining processes at work. The kit comes in their smaller box, and looking inside, the parts are securely wrapped in bubblewrap and sealed with tape, which also keeps the magnets securely inside as well.
There are few parts in this box, and the instructions show how the various parts are laminated together to create the top and bottom halves. small magnets are inserted into the pre-drilled holes in each corner to allow the two halves to magnetically close, very similar to the BB01 Brush Box.
While I usually use Gorilla non-foaming wood glue for HobbyZone products, I remember how some friends use cyano to quickly assemble balsa wood projects. I applied cyano and the parts should have instantly bonded, but for some reason, my gap-filling cyano doesn't work on this MDF. I wiped off the cyano and went back to the Gorilla glue. I clamped up the corners for each asssembly and set them aside to dry.
The AC01 set includes 10 aligator clips bonded to flexible wire and are designed to be stored inside the AC01 between projects. You can see the assembled AC01 ready for work.
Here's my AC01 holding two rocket engine bells before I add tabs to their ends to allow the bells to be held and painted.
The AC01 Airbrush Painting Clips Holder goes together quickly and with no problems (when using the proper glue). This will be another regular fixture on my bench as these clips will also hold onto subassemblies and keep them out of harm's way until needed.
You can see this and other modules at the HobbyZone website ( www.hobbyzone.biz) and on their eBay Store. Stay tuned as we build up other modules and see what we can do with them to organize the bench!
My thanks to HobbyZone.biz for this review sample.
