Here's another interesting tool that has been released in Japan and is now available in the US. This is the Shimomura Alec Pin Wheel chamfering tool. We've seen other chamfering tools from Shimomura and this one takes on a different aspect of modeling clean-up.
The Alec Pin Wheel is a a pair of identical chamfering shapes that are aligned with a ball bearing and held together with a small jig bonded to one end. The concave ends allow for chamfering the outer edges of round objects like axle housings and mounts as well as intake and exhaust ducts. This chamfering process removes excess mold flash as well as thinning the outer edges to achieve scale thickness. As you can see in the image above, it also works on the inside edges of those same items for clean-up and scale thickness.
While I have some of the other trimming and chamfering tools from Shimomura, this Alec Pinwheel is more versatile in that it is self-centering on a given object and, with the right pressure, trims four time faster.
You can find the Pin Wheel (within the US) at HobbyZone USA here!
