Review
Just because you have earlier “In Action” coverage of Boeing’s legendary B-29, don’t shun this convenient compendium.
Call it a “one-stop” Superfortress source. Squadron/Signal’s contents course through every operational and experimental version – XB-29, YB-29, B-29, B-29A, B-29B, XB-39, and XB-44. Coverage also outlines the “Silverplate” atomic bombers and landmark X-1 carrier – as well as F-13, F-13A, SB-29, KB-29, EB-29, WB-29, and P2B variants.
Over 245 photos – including 90 in full color – supplement text. Add plenty of aircraft details – including evocative nose art. And this volume superbly supplements any B-29 model project. Only the iconic “In Action” centerfold of color profiles goes AWOL in this latest iteration.
It’s also the perfect companion to Squadron/Signal’s recent B-29 Superfortress Walk Around – another excellent source of modeling minutiae on Boeing’s martial masterpiece.
Recommended.
My sincere thanks to Squadron/Signal Publications for this review sample!
