Review
Squadron/Signal Publications' In Action series isn't what it used to be. It's better! Those of us who've collected a number of these handy references know that these In Action titles were a short expose' using a variety of period imagery in black and white plus a few color photos and some color profiles on the centerfold. While the photos were (and still are) useful, we know that many of these photos were available in color but were not published that way. Not so anymore.
In B-25 Mitchell In Action, the author walks the reader through a photo history of the aircraft from the early prototypes on to the aircraft flown by the Doolittle Raiders, from the early light bomber units in the Mediterranean to the strafers in the South Pacific and from the first B-25s to the B-25J and PBJ series. This title has a great look at this cross-section of the Mitchell series. Coverage includes:
- B-25
- B-25A
- B-25B
- B-25C
- PBJ-1C
- B-25D
- B-25G
- B-25H
- PBJ-1H
- B-25J
- PBJ-1J
The title is heavily illustrated with period photography and a significant portion of that are in full color - an excellent resource for modeler and historian alike. This title is definitely recommended!
My sincere thanks to Squadron/Signal Publications for this review sample!
