Review

In their tenth installment of their modelling series, Osprey provides another interesting topic - the Hetzer tank destroyer. The author walks the reader through a variety of subjects that are based on the multitude of captured Skoda and BMM tank chassis, how to modify the kits, adding resin and photo-etched details, and of course, painting and weathering.

Modelling the Jagpanzer 38(t) 'Hetzer'

The table of contents outlines the variety of subjects covered:

  • Materials
  • May 1944 BMM Production Hetzer
  • May 1945 Skoda Production Hetzer
  • 15cm Schweres Infanteriegeschutz 22/3 (Sf) auf Jagdpanzer 38(t) Hetzer
  • Bergepanzer 38(t) and Vignettes
  • Further Reading, Media and Websites
  • Museums and Collections
  • Kits Available

The author doesn't limit his discussions to building just the model. He also provides a refreshing insight into developing vignettes in which to place the model and some figures into a moment of history. There is a nice discussion of diorama/vignette bases, building camouflage, and the various elements to take your modeling into the next realm of realism.

Recommended!
