Review
Since South Vietnam’s collapse in 1975, the Australian Army has seen combat in major global flashpoints.
Now Leigh Neville recaps those operations in The Australian Army at War 1976–2016 – no. 526 in Osprey’s vast “Men-at-Arms” series.
After introductory notes on Australian Army history, Neville first recaps peace-keeping duties in Cambodia, Somalia, and Rwanda. Text then segues to operations in:
- East Timor,
- Afghanistan, and
- Iraq
Explanatory captions and an abbreviations summary accompany text. And in addition to photos, illustrations include eight pages of 23 color uniform plates with inset details. Artwork commentaries, operational structures summary, references, and an index neatly wrap things up.

My sincere thanks to Osprey Publishing for this review sample!
