Review

Ever buy a kit for its box art alone?

That's the basic premise behind On the Fly, latest Spotlight ON from MMP/Stratus.

Noted digital illustrator Marek Rys offers 21 action illustrations spanning a century of warplane history.

From the Fokker D.VII through Junkers Ju 88 A-1 and Polish-built MiG-7F to the MiG-29, Rys surveys the colorful swath of aircraft and colors.

Some are clearly favorites. Like two (2) illustrations of Morane-Saulnier MS 406s – and six (6) of Spitfire variants!

My biggest gripe? Each painting spans a spread – with a binding gutter running right down the middle.

If Aunt Millie questions your interest in warplane warpaint, show her this cool little tome. Then even she'll understand!

I want to thank MMP for this review copy.
