Alan Ranger surveys Blitzkrieg-era French Hotchkiss H35 & H39 cavalry tanks in the seventh installment of MMP's "Camera ON" series.
Subtitled "Through A German Lens", contents include nearly 100 rare photos of:
- French H35s
- French H39s
- Captured vehicles in German service
The large, crisply printed images reveal many subtle vehicle and setting details that smaller reproductions often lack.
Captions themselves often read like CSI reports – with the author authoritatively reporting nuances and minutiae, conjectures and conclusions.
Notes on camouflage colors, unit insignia, and personal markings proved particularly intriguing. How about that H35 command tank with Oriental script?
Riveting.
Having trouble identifying H35 and H39 variants? Confused about German modifications to captured vehicles? Ranger's informative remarks will help sex, date, and validate your Hotchkiss build.
Diorama inspirations also abound. Now you'll know exactly where to hang a milk pail and egg basket on your early version H35 model!
MMP's picture-packed study sports arresting insights, helpful details, and canny commentary. I loved it.
Recommended!
I want to thank MMP for this review copy.
