Review
Kagero has been turning out some very interesting and well-researched monographs on many subjects which have not been previously adequately covered. One such subject is the Junkers Ju 88 series. In Volume I, the author jumps straight into a bombing mission over the Balkans and into Ionian Sea, with the perspective told from both sides. With this introduction, the author takes your behind the history, development and operations of this versatile combat aircraft.
Step by step, the author begins the early developments of the Ju 88 series and into the more common versions that many people would recognize. The coverage includes:
- Introduction
- Development of the Design
- Versions and Derivatives
- Ju 88A-4 Technical Features
In addition to the historical aspects of this title, presented in both Polish and English, there are numerous fold-out three view diagrams of the various early marks of the Ju 88 and many color profiles as well. In fact, a sheet of Techmod decals is also provided with the markings of selected color profiles in both 1/72 and 1/48 scale. These include:
- Ju 88A-5, 1./KG 30, 4D+VH, Apr 1941
- Ju 88A-4, 4./KG 54, B3+AM, 1943
- Ju 88A-5, 1./KG 51, Red F, 1941
The aviation historian and modeler alike will want to add this to their reference libraries - especially considering the VERY reasonable retail price!
