Review

The third installment of Kagero's colorful Super Model International magazine details three World War II Allied aircraft projects:

  • 1:48 Dewoitine D.520 from Tamiya
  • 1:32 Hawker Hurricane Mk.I from PCM
  • 1:32 Spitfire Mk.Vb from Hobby Boss

Chapters trace projects from start to finish.  And illustrated subsections again showcase specific techniques – like the use of filters and washes to modulate camouflage appearance.  I especially enjoyed Michal Rosiak's innovative pre-shading with multiple metallics.  Cool!

Unfortunately, Pierre LeGloan's legendary D.520 No.277 remains one of my favorite French subjects.  And while Tomasz Chacewicz's techniques proved interesting, his model inaccurately replicated that famous fighter's finish.

Nitpicks aside, this colorful compendium will certainly get your project juices flowing!

Recommended.

My sincere thanks to Casemate for this review sample!
