Review
Widely considered WWII’s finest lightweight fighter, the Yakovlev Yak-3 remains renown for its superb performance and compact airframe.
Now it’s subject of the second, eponymous installment in Kagero’s new “In Combat” range – available in North America from Casemate.
Author Dariusz Paduch commences dual English-Polish coverage with over 30 pages of design, development, and variant notes.
Sixteen pages of color plates and scale drawings follow. And two more profiles appear on the back cover.
Choose your favorite scheme – and fact-check your kit!
Coverage of “combat operations” begins on page 53. Commentary also shares frank assessments of Yak-3 strengths and weaknesses. And text includes notes on the Yak-11 trainer derivative.
Crackerjack prize in the package is a set of canopy masks to 1:48 and 1:72 scales. But Kagero doesn’t indicate which kits they fit.
Author Paduch shoehorns much into just 80 pages. And Yakovlev Yak-3 is an excellent introduction to this comely combatant.
Recommended!
My sincere thanks to Casemate for this review sample!
