Review

Kagero has released the latest in their TopDrawing series, this one covering the bomber versions of the Junkers Ju 88. Don't let the page count fool you as you'll notice when you pick this up that it is bulging inside the protective envelope. The 20 pages provide detailed line drawings of the Ju 88 bomber variants as well as four-view color profiles of four selected subjects.

The drawings inside the 20 pages are all 1/72 scale, but the bulging of the title is from four separate sheets of line drawings providing those same subjects in 1/48 and 1/32 scale. This is quite thorough!

P-51D P-51D

The title doesn't stop there, it also includes a large sheet of decals to replicate each of the four subjects portrayed in the color profiles, all of which are provided in 1/32, 1/48, and 1/72 scale. The subjects included are:

  • Ju 88A-1, 3./KG 51, 9K+HL, 1940
  • Ju 88A-1, 2./LG 1, L1+OK, 1942
  • Ju 88A-4, 8./KG 77, 3Z+KS, 1943
  • Ju 88A-5, 10.(Erg.)/KG 54, B3+EX, 1943

The aviation historian and modeler alike will want to add this to their reference libraries - especially considering the VERY reasonable retail price!

My sincere thanks to Kagero Decals for this review sample!
