Review
Hard on the heels of Ginter Book’s superb Douglas A-4C/L Skyhawk In Navy Service comes a compact, companion compendium on the type in US Marine Corps use.
Douglas A-4C/L Skyhawk In Marine Service – 110 in Ginter Books’ extensive “Naval Fighters” range and seventh in the publisher’s Scooter series – spans just 52 pages, including covers.
But in that succinct space, author Steve Ginter surveys over 20 USMC units flying the type. Sections include nearly 150 B&W shots, unit art, BuNos, operational notes, and explanatory captions. A final part showcases several preserved examples. And eleven cover shots comprise color coverage.
But you’ll need Naval Fighters 109 on USN A-4C/Ls for general design and development details. And unlike the USN book, no model kit reports accompany this one!
