Review

What a cool, colorful compendium!

Black Knights Rule! – first in Ginter Books' new "US Navy Squadron Histories" series – traces the history of VFA-154 from 1946 through 2013.

Coverage courses chronologically – and capably recaps the unit's complete lineage: VBF-718, VF-68A, VF-837 and VF-154.

Author Angelo Romano – with able input from The Hook editor and founder Robert L. Lawson – shoehorns nearly 400 color photos, over 100 B&W shots, 84 color patches and 11 color profiles into just 138 pithy pages.  I especially enjoyed initial sections on the Black Knight's first 15 years.  And those color profiles – excellent and inspirational.

Wow!  What a book!  US Naval aviation enthusiasts everywhere will grab their drool cups.  And modelers will go ga-ga – just trying to choose schemes!

Roundly recommended!

With thanks to Ginter Books!
