Steve Wiper of Classic Warships has released another in a series of warship pictorial books, this time he brings us the USS Midway CV-41 Warship Pictorial number 41. Author Pete Clayton, CDR USN (Ret) is one of the leading authorities on this long serving US Navy aircraft carrier and a major contributor to the US Navy Tailhook Association Newsletter. He has put together a history of the MIDWAY from her commissioning at the last days of WWII, thru to her decommissioning in 1992, covering her 47 year career. Covered are the air groups, aircraft types, her deployments to all oceans of the world. The Midway currently resides at the waterfront of the city of San Diego, California, as one of the greatest aircraft carrier and naval aviation museums in the USA. This aircraft carrier Midway was named for the historic carrier battle fought off Midway Islands from 1942. CVB-41 was the third U.S. Navy ship and the second aircraft carrier to bear the name of Midway.
