Here is a new company in the aviation research arena: Aero Research. They have provided you with a sneak peek at a new series of photo CDs that ought to get the attention of tail spotters and modelers alike. Each CD released will have at least 150 high resolution photographs for your reference.
In this installment, we have USN/USMC F-4 Phantoms Part II. Once again, I used my image browser to scan through some of the aircraft on the disc and I was quite impressed with the selection of aircraft. Many of these photos were taken of these aircraft aboard ship, in flight, or at the occasional static display. Taking a closer look at the data in the directory, these images are provided at 4000 pixels wide.
For the tail spotter, you'll see these aircraft from a variety of time periods to that you'll get representative configurations of the airframe during different phases of its operational life. You'll also be able to see the aircraft in a variety of color schemes from the colorful CAG schemes to the nominal line aircraft.
Some of the schemes represent the early steps undertaken by the Navy and Marines to transition aircraft to less colorful/more effective camouflage. Others represent some of the most colorful schemes you'll only find on flight test articles, most notably from VX-4 at NAS Point Mugu.
For the modeler, you'll see lots of good details and color information for tackling that next project.
According to the publisher, future subjects include: Classic Propliners, Fire Tankers Part 2, and USAF Collection No.1.
This is a nice selection of imagery that you won't find available in such clarity and size. This title is recommended!
You can purchase this reference or any of their other photo CDs directly from their website www.aeroresearchcds.com or via email AeroResearch@Charter.net.
My sincere thanks to Aero Research for this review sample!
