Review
Accion Press Modelismo is back with another impressive issue of Euro Modelismo. This issue provides the usual nice array of modeling subjects to appeal to a wide variety of modelers. In this issue:
- Desert Scene: Sd.Kfz.222 and BMW Motorcycle w/Sidecar, 1/48
- MiG-21bis MG-138 'Ylli' Finnish AF, 1/48
- Pak-40, 1/35 scale
- Incom Corp T-65 X-Wing, 1/72
As with each of the publications from Accion Press Modelismo, each article is well-illustrated with step-by-step instructions to show you how to replicate these impressive models. The Desert Scene proves that you can have a detailed, eye-catching Afrika Korps diorama in 1/48 scale by applying good detailing, painting and weathering on the two vehicles as well as building up the story with some good figures and background scene materials to bring that scene to life.
The Finnish MiG-21 build provides some nice techniques for chipping the paint of a camouflaged aircraft while keeping the effect subtle. On the other hand, the Pak-40 article shows how to buid and paint up a Pak-40 as factory-fresh, then incrementally weather it to create a war-weary artillery piece. If you want battle damage, the Star Wars X-Wing features some nice scratch-built updates to reveal underlying details after sections of the craft were blasted away.
If you're looking for a quality modeling magazine that has excellent photography, high-quality modeling topics and authors, outstanding paper and print quality, and very few ads, this is one of those series worth keeping in your modeling reference library. Euro Modelismo is published in your choice of English or Spanish.
Definitely recommended!
My sincere thanks to Accion Press for this review sample!
