Here is a nice new title from Accion Press - Landscapes of War Volume 1. This is another modeler's guide in their growing reference series to help us develop and enhance our model presentation skills. For example we looked at Aircraft in Scale which walks through the build, paint and weathering process using a variety of subjects to illustrate how to transform a scale aircraft into one that starts to tell a story.

In this release, the author takes us through the process of designing, laying out, building, painting, and weathering display bases which takes a that model and puts it into an action scene without the using lighting, sound, or other currently popular special effects.

The scenic subjects covered in this title include:

• Barbarrossa - Coniferous Woods Forest with Rocks
• Counterstrike and Retreat - Rocks, water, vegetation, snow, ice, and icicles
• Cruel Pacific, Bloody Beach - Reproducing Sea Water
• Duck Hunt - Stream Bed

There is a load of great ideas and information in this well-illustrated 112-page title (all in English by the way) from how to scratch-build your own trees, snow-covered surfaces, water spray, etc. I've actually had this review copy for two weeks but it has been spending that time on the night stand as I find some great ideas for future projects inside.

This is a great new title from Accion Press that will be one you'll want near your bench or nightstand when you're looking for ideas or inspiration to apply to your next project.
