Review

Ampersand Publishing is well-known for its Allied-Axis series which compile period photography of different subjects to provide the historian and modeler alike with great materials not seen before in other titles. This issue provides coverage of five unique subjects: the Sexton self-propelled gun, German Horch 108 Heavy Uniform Personnel Vehicle, Char B1, Souma S35, and the Coleman Truck with the Quick-Way Crane.

Each subject is covered with a nice selection of period photographs supplemented with photos from museums or displays where appropriate. Given that several of these subject have had fairly recent kit releases, the photos in this title will help the modeler with those subtle details which can bring these kits to life. As with past editions of Allied-Axis, all of the images inside are black and white which is unfortunate given that some of the period photos and all of the contemporary photos are in color.

This is another nice addition to your armor reference library which will provide you ready access to that all-important reference material when you need it. Definitely recommended!

My sincere thanks to Ampersand Group for this review sample!
