Review
AJ Press has released part one of the P-38 Lightning's history. This title is published in Polish only though the photo captions are in Polish and English. Why would you want to buy a Polish aircraft reference? Read on!
How many times have you picked up one of the Koku Fan Famous Aircraft of the World monographs and found it useful for getting a glimpse at certain details for an upcoming project? Chances are that you don't read Japanese, yet these well-illustrated titles bring together some great information for the modeler. The historian gets left out of this unless they do read Japanese.
The author begins with the initial development of the P-38 and walks through the different models of the aircraft through the P-38M and the XP-58 Chain Lightning. As usual for these titles, the book is loaded with great B&W photographs, many of which I haven't seen in print previously.
The title concludes with seven pages of color photos from WW2, including the red 'Yippee' P-38L, plus ten pages of color profiles. Inserted into the title is a huge two-sided sheet of line drawings in 1/48 scale of the aircraft from the XP-38 through the P-38F.
This title is a must-have for all aviation historians and modelers alike. You can find this title and many of the other titles from AJ Press at the Air Connection website ( www.airconnection.on.ca).
I purchased my copy from Air Connection.
