First Look
Raikisan! is a hobby company from Austria specializing in paint masks. This set provides a nice selection of late World War II US national insignia which can be painted with the blue background on USAAF subjects and white-only on US Navy overall Sea Blue paint schemes. These masks are die-cut on yellow-tape which means that they less likely to pull up paint when they're removed.
This set includes paint masks for the following star and bar sizes:
- 30" x 11
- 35" x 7
- 40" x 7
- 45" x 5
- 50" x 4
If you're ready to apply your markings the same way as the full-scale aircraft had theirs applied, these paint masks will give you more control and more realistic results, especially if you're weathering your aircraft (decals don't weather as well as paint). Check out their website for the other masks and stencils available in their online catalog.
My sincere thanks to Raikisan! for this review sample!
