First Look

Furball Aero-Design produces a nice variety of aftermarket decal sets, and now they've addressed another useful area - paint masks. Here is one of their latest releases, a mask set for the Tamiya 1/48 F-14A Tomcat. This set provides paint masks that are die-cut from black vinyl to mask the wing flaps and spoilers on the early high-visibility gray/white aircraft. Since the stabilators plug into poly caps, they can be painted separately and installed later, but the wing flight control surfaces are painted white along with the undersurfaces of the aircraft. This mask set accurately covers the hinge lines in the spoilers which were not straight.

My sincere thanks to Furball Aero-Design for this review sample!
