This is the first time that I am aware of that there is a legitimate kitting of -5 Helldiver in any scale or at least a very good attempt at one.

The Special Hobby kit started life as the Academy kit and it is a very nice kit at that. Special Hobby added to the Academy parts, a specific sprue for all the -5 unique parts such as the longer and differently shaped bomb bay doors, the Curtis Electric prop and some other small parts. An additional clear sprue is provided that takes care of the unique -5 transparencies.

Resin parts are provided for the rockets, tanks wheels with the unique hub pattern and also cockpit parts and under-wing AN/APS-4 radar pods.

Photoetch parts are provided to spruce up the cockpit with seatbelts and other details.
