First Look
Don Yenko built 201 examples of the Yenko/SC Camaro in 1969 and they unleashed a new wave of Chevy Power in the hands of the quarter-mile legends of the day. Former SCCA racer, Don Yenko wanted to add a very special Camaro to his stable of limited production, performance creations and he knew this was the car he needed. He ordered 100 of these impressive 450 horsepower machines and the first cars off the line were delivered to him in early ‘69. The high-rise intake with Holley 4 barrel carb, power disk brakes, the ZL2 cowl induction hood, positraction rear end with 4.10 gear and the customers choice of a 4 speed manual transmission or GM's M40 Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission which in this case came with Hurst's dual-gate linkage. More than thirty years after they were built, these raucous machines are not only highly valued collector cars, but they are also potent muscle cars still capable of producing heart-stopping performance.
The kit includes over 100 pieces molded in very crisp white, clear, transparent red and chrome plastic with very little flash, and the stock tires are molded in black firm rubber.
The kit features a highly detailed L-72 427 C.I.D. big block motor, air induction hood and simulated alloy mag wheels, stock chevy wheels would have been a nice option in this kit but they are not included. The dash is representative of the Yanko Camero complete with clock between the tach and 140 mph speedometer.
A stock rear suspension and front sway bar are represented. The front grill without chevy bowtie and rear spoiler are included. The authentic Yenko decal striping are in black or white, so you will have the option of painting the 6 different colors that Don Yanko ordered, Daytona Yellow, Fathom Green, Hugger Orange, Le Mans Blue, Olympic Gold, and Rally Green.
Decals are provided for the engine compartment air cleaner, and fan shroud, sYc decals for the seat headrests. No Yenko decal or 427 emblem is provided for the rear panel.
I was very impressed with number of parts included with this kit; all details are crisp and smooth. This Camero will make an impressive addition to anyone's bowtie model collection. I highly recommend this kit.
