First Look
Revell has provided a small Alphajet kit for several years. Regularly reissued with German markings, this model is now issued with a very nice decal sheet to represent a French Patrouille de France aircraft.
The model is easy to assemble and despite the moulds are some years old, you will not need a lot of putty. The shape of the airframe is correct; we can say that the model has a good Alphajet look.
The basic cockpit is well enough detailed for this scale and you will just have to add the seat belts on the ejection seats. For French aircrafts, the interior is semi-gloss black, with olive or blue seat cushions. The smoke trail generator (part 32) is always mounted on Patrouille de France aircrafts, and the 26-27-28-29 parts are ferry flight tanks. Use them to represent the aircraft during ferry flights only.
The nose undercarriage is under the right side of the frame on the aircraft. You have to do some surgical duties to move the nose wheel to the right side on the model. But this is not absolutely necessary at this 1/144 scale.
The color chart is good, the color scheme is right and the decals are of good quality.
This is a very cheap and small kit which gives us the luck to own a small model of the French Air Force ambassador in our display.
Thanks to Revell for this review sample.
