First Look
New Ware is an interesting hobby company from the Czech Republic that specializes in kits and detail sets for spacecraft and astronauts/cosmonauts from around the world. Here is one interesting release that recently caught my eye.
This is a complete vignette (mini-diorama) that consists of 21 beautifully cast resin parts. These include the lunar base, two highly detailed astronaut figures, two helmets, two life support backpacks, and a variety of other small details. This set replicates man's last walk on the moon for the Apollo program, this being Apollo 17 astronauts Eugene Cernan (mission commander) and Harrison "Jack" Schmitt (lunar module pilot). The set also includes 40 details to replicate all of the NASA, US Flag, and mission patches, placards, and other details to visually set off the completed model.
These are larger figures at 1/24 scale and are part of a series of figures from New Ware that also include the 1/24 First Space Walkers set of Alexei Leonov (USSR) and Ed White (USA). New Ware also produces a wide range of detail sets for the Revell-Monogram 1/32 Apollo, 1/48 Gemini, 1/48 Lunar Module, and 1/96 Saturn V kits as well as full kits and detail sets for a wide range of launch vehicles and spacecraft.
New Ware kits and detail sets are available directly from the manufacturer ( website) or from a variety of other online retailers. I purchased my set from CultTVman.
