First Look

Mercedes Kit

Here's an interesting kit of a minimalistic Mercedes utility car, the Model 170V. The basic vehicle is the ultimate convertible as there is no body save the enclosed engine compartment. On rainy days, the convertible top would protect the occupants from downward rainfall while side curtains provided some protection as well. I don't imagine these were very comfortable in the northern regions during the winter...

This kit is beautfully done with the kit molded in gray styrene and presented on four parts trees plus a set of rubber (vinyl) tires. Among the features and options in this kit:

  • Detailed engine compartment
  • Detailed chassis, suspension and drive train
  • Detailed passenger compartment
  • Positionable hood to reveal engine
  • Choice of raised or stowed convertible top

Markings are included for five different military police vehicles.

This kit will serve as a great standalone model or as the basis of a very nice diorama or vignette.

Recommended!

My sincere thanks to DML for this review sample!
