First Look
The so-called 'egg plane' craze has spread among various kit makers, and now the folks that bring you Kitty Hawk Models and Panda Hobby have entered the fight with a new brand - Q-Men - and their first 'egg plane' subject: the J-20 Mighty Dragon. Molded in red styrene, this kit is presented on two parts trees plus one tree of clear parts. Assembly is snap-together, so you can have one of these built in no time (unless you take the time to paint the model as well).
What is unique about the Q-Men kits is the pilot figure. It consists of one tree of green styrene parts and one resin-cast helmeted head. When you get a closer look at the figure, it goes together and moves like one of the Lego figures, and can be posed standing next to the J-20 or seated inside. Even more interesting is that a number of the decals on that sheet replicate details on the pilot including parachute harness and the stitching of its flight suit.
Markings are included for two examples, one is a standard line aircraft while the other is the bright red airshow aircraft commemorating 70 years.
If you're looking for a project for a younger modeler or something to clear your own head, give one of these gems a try!
My sincere thanks to Kitty Hawk for this review sample!
