First Look
The KS 750 was a flat-twin engine motorcycle that was mass-produced for the German Army during World War 2. Many of these motorcycles were equipped with a sidecar to allow for transport of two soldiers and their equipment into the field. Many of these units were tasked with armed reconnaissance, messenger, security, scouting, ambulance, and other duties.
Italeri has reissued their Zündapp KS 750 kit and you can see in the images that it is a simple build. There have been other kits of the subject that offer photo-etched wheel spokes but those kits are recommended to experienced multi-media modelers. This kit is molded in light gray styrene and presented on two parts trees.
Among the features and options in this kit:
- Nice frame and engine detail (not over-engineered)
- Left-side storage box on motorcycle
- Sidecar with frame
- left and right side storage boxes on sidecar
- Machine gun and mount on front of sidecar
- Spare tire and stowage on rear of motorcycle
- Three figures included: seated driver, seated rider, and standing military policeman
This is a nice kit that provides a nice standalone vignette right out of the box or can contribute to a larger story in a larger vignette or diorama. This will make a nice weekend project!
My sincere thanks to Hobbico for this review sample!
