First Look
The passenger car Typ 770K was designed by Daimler-Benz in 1938. It became the top of the company's pre-war model range. This car had an 8 cylinder engine of 155 hp and 6 passenger seats. They only produced 88 cars by 1943 and 46 of them were the Tourenwagen type with open bodies. Some of the cars had armored bodies. They were used mainly by the highest state and military authorities of Germany.
ICM's kit of the Daimler Benz 770K consists of 246 parts of very well molded tan colored styrene. Also included are 26 clear styrene parts for the windows and lights. Mold lines and knockout pins are minimal. There is no flash present. Decals are well printed and provide markings for four vehicles, three in gloss black and one in Dunkelgelb and Olivgrun.
Some key features of the kit are:
- Full and very detailed engine
- Highly detailed chassis
- Detailed drive train and suspension
- Main doors can be built open or closed (with some minor cutting)
- Tires made from styrene
- Hood can be built opened or closed
- Very detailed interior
This is the second release of this vehicle. The only difference being that this one comes with the top.
Another in the ever growing line of soft skin vehicles coming from ICM. These are all highly detailed models and are great to build. This one will allow you to paint some gloss colors for a change!
My sincere thanks to Squadron Mail Order for this review sample!
