First Look
The LAV-300 was a light armored vehicle (LAV) designed and built by Cadillac Gage company in Warren, MI. The hull was amphibious with six wheels and a crew of three and up to nine passengers inside. In 1993, the Philippine Marine Corps orderd 24 of the LAV-300 Mk.II variants with 12 armed with .50 caliber machine guns in its turret as an APC and 12 armed wth the 90mm Cockerill gun in its turret as an FSV.
Here's a new-tool kit from HobbyBoss that nicely renders the 1/35 LAV-300 90mm Cockerill Gun out of the box. The model is molded in tan styrene and presented on three parts trees plus upper and lower hull, and one fret of photo-etched parts. Among the features and options in this kit:
- Nicely detailed 6x6 drive train and suspension
- Driver's station and interior seating provided
- Nicely detailed exterior hull and turret
- Minimal interior detail provided for hull
- No detail provided inside turret
- Positionable crew hatches
Decal options for two examples are included.
This is a relatively simple kit that goes together quickly without sacrificing external details.
If you want an interesting weekend project, this is the model you're looking for...
