First Look
I'm getting addicted to these HobbyBoss Easy Assembly kits. You've seen several quick builds of these kits here on Cybermodeler Online and each one has been a fun project. I have no doubts this kit will inadvertantly find its way onto the bench as well.
This kit represents Germany's Dornier-built heavy fighter which was reportedly one of the fastest propeller-powered aircraft of the war. It's push-pull engine arrangement provided a low drag silhouette for the aircraft and this high-performance airframe was a very stable gun platform. As with other aircraft types that showed air defense prowess (like the Me 262), the German high command ordered these aircraft into fighter-bomber service. Fortunately for the allied air forces, the war ended before many of these new fighters could become operational.
This kit is molded in light gray styrene and presented on two parts trees plus the upper fuselage half and the lower fuselage/wing. One small tree with the canopy (not shown) rounds out this kit. There are roughly 40 parts in this kit according to the specs and you can see that this too will be a quick and easy project.
Markings are provided for Do 335A-1, VG+PH which was a single-seat fighter-bomber variant.
This is another nice release from HobbyBoss with an interesting subject and a project that can easily be completed in a weekend for those of us that have limited time for modeling.
My sincere thanks to Squadron Mail Order for this review sample!
