First Look
DML has released another version of the Churchill in 1/72 scale, this time representing a Mk.III with wading gear as it would have been fitted for the 1942 Dieppe Raid. The Dieppe Raid was to be a proof of concept for allied amphibious assaults of port cities and provide opportunities to collect intelligence. Unfortunately the Dieppe Raid only proved that more work was required in order to gain a foothold ashore and defend it.
This kit is molded in light gray styrene and presented on five parts trees plus two runs of tan-molded vinyl tracks. Some key features of this kit are:
- Easy assembly (road wheels are molded to the suspension arms)
- Nice detailing on hull and turret
- Wading trunks for intake and exhaust provided
- One piece DS tracks
Decals are included to represent three examples from the 14th Canadian Armoured Regiment at Dieppe, France, 1942. This will make a nice addition to your scale motorpool!
Thanks to DML for this review sample.
