First Look

After a long string of four individual figures in a set, DML has now changed a bit and offers two two-figure pairs in one box. This is a bit better in some respects, as they are more useful in placing them in either dioramas or vignettes as well as setting off an individual model.

The figures comprise two figures in overcoats sharing a mess tin of soup and an officer in the long sleeve/long pants uniform giving instructions to an NCO. The figures are nicely animated and well sculpted.

Each figure consists of the basic six parts (head, torso, legs and arms) but the two in overcoats each have a separate two-piece skirt to the coat. Generic kit and weapons are included, and specific kit includes sand goggles a headset for the panzer NCO.

The artwork is by Ron Volstad but for some reason DML has cheapened up the directions and gone to the “stick here” photos common in most of their sets vice the painting directions Ron has done for them in the past.

Overall this is a nicely done set and with the continuing popularity of the Afrika Korps mystique it should be well received.

Thanks to DML for the review sample.
