First Look
The latest set of four figures - at least somewhat related in poses and period - are four German SS Panzergrenadiers from the Arnhem battle of October 1944. There is an officer in the gray uniform, two figures (both wounded) in the later camouflage pattern armored vehicle crewman’s uniform, and one infantryman in a smock and boots. The officer is offering cigarettes to the two wounded men (one has a wrist wound with sling, the other a head wound with bandage) and the infantryman peers around nervously looking for British Airborne troops.
Two of the figures are a compromise between the normal “Gen1" figures and the much busier “Gen2" types: there is a short single piece “skirt” molded using the slide molding technique to give some cloth-like drape to the coat skirts and each figure now consists of seven parts (legs, skirt, torso, head and arms). The two wounded men are normal “six parters” but add the bits for the bandages and sling as well.
The artwork and box directions are not the Ron Volstad type but rather the less useful “stick here and paint like the box art” type.
Overall the figures can be used either as a vignette with a single vehicle (the box suggests a knocked out Pzkw. IV) or single figures as with many of the recent DML “sets”.
Thanks to DML for the review sample.
