DH Land of the Giants Kit First Look

For those of us who remember that Paul McCartney was in a band before Wings, we grew up watching a variety of Irwin Allen television shows including the 'Land of the Giants'. Centered around the crew and passengers aboard a suborbital flight in the future (1983), the spacecraft passes through some sort of anomaly and lands on an earth-like planet where everything is 12 times larger than on Earth. The series ran two seasons and provided a variety of episodes that explore the interactions of the survivors with the gigantic inhabitants and encounters with creatures that were only a nuisance back on Earth.

Here is the latest release from D&H GA - Land of the Giants. Who is D&H GA? The original D&H company was owned by the same person that also founded Moebius Models. When that owner retired a few years ago, he sold Moebius Models to Pegasus Hobbies in California while the D&H business was acquired by one of my favorite online retailers, CultTVman, and moved to Georgia. In keeping with his love of cult television, D&H teamed up with Round 2 Models to reissue this kit that hasn't been available in decades.

The kit is molded in tan styrene and is presented on parts parts tree, plus separately molded segments for the giant rattlesnake and display base. The molding on the snake is nicely scribed which will make painting of the scales easy and fun. The set also includes a foldable display backdrop, one side with just tall grass, the other side with tall grass and the Spindrift spacecraft in the background..
