I’m not a gamer and I have no history or knowledge of the WarHammer 40K universe, here lately I have found an interest in some of the gaming figures now available in injection molding versus the white metal figures of the past.  Wow the opportunities to paint figures with realistic flesh tones or fantasy colors are endless.  Citadel Miniatures released has a real winner here with the 40K Ork Bommer kit. The engineering of this kit is very unique in that it offers the option to build one of three unique jets.  The most popular configurations of the Ork Bommer are the Dakkajet, the Burna-Bommer and the Blitza-Bommer.

This multi-part plastic kit contains 114 parts including several clear canopies with which to build one of three Ork Bommer’s, and it can make either a Dakkajet, Burna-Bommer or Blitza-Bommer. As well as a Grot Gunner, it includes a range of weapons options: a big shoota, boom bombs, burna bombs, skorcha rokkits and supa shootas - everything budding flyboyz need to create big explosions. Upon opening the box, it was evident that nothing was packaged in plastic like most of the kits release of this size, I would have expected the clear pieces to be protected in plastic but this wasn’t the case.  However the canopies are very thick but still crystal clear.  Included in the kit is a nice clear display stand with a large oval base. An Ork Bommer decal sheet is included but to placement instructions are provided in the kit manual.

The sky’s the limit with this kit, imagine making one of these into a Mig Alley Saber Jet or add some LED lights for the cockpit, wing tips and exhausts.  Some builders of this kit have added micro magnets to the bombs and missiles to remove and replace them as needed.  How fun is that?  I ended up getting three copies of this kit so I can build all three versions, but I do have plans to modify my kit with some of the items above.  I did find a lower price for this kit at my favorite auction site.

I highly recommend this kit.
