In 1935 the Italian Fiat Company began work on a small car for low income families, which became known as the "Topolino" (little mouse). Powered by a 4 cylinder 569cc engine it was capable of 85km/h. Construction was advanced for its day and although sold as a 2 seater, it was strong enough to carry 5 people. Production started in 1936 at Fiat and was judged a success. At the start of WWII many of these cars were pressed into service. Most were used as run-about's by the Italian and German armies, seeing service in Europe, North Africa and Russia.

The Bronco kit consists of 120 styrene parts molded in tan, 9 styrene parts molded in clear and 17 photo etch detail parts. All of the parts are molded to near perfection and the detail is great. There is no flash present and the seam lines are very fine and will be easy to clean up. The instructions are very well written and will be easy to follow. Markings are provided for 3 vehicles. All 3 are in civilian colors. 3 figures are provided as well, an adult lady, a small child and a dog. They are very well molded and will provide a nice "diorama in a box" if so desired. Some key features of this kit are:

  • Fully detailed engine
  • Detailed chassis
  • Tires molded in styrene
  • Front wheels can be turned
  • Detailed interior
  • Engine hood can be built open or closed
  • Doors can be built open or closed

Overall this looks to be another great kit from Bronco and with the lower parts count, it should be a fairly quick build.

My sincere thanks to DML for this review sample!
