First Look
In 1935 the Italian Fiat Company began work on a small car for low income families, which became known as the "Topolino" (little mouse). Powered by a 4 cylinder 569cc engine it was capable of 85km/h. Construction was advanced for its day and although sold as a 2 seater, it was strong enough to carry 5 people. Production started in 1936 at Fiat and was judged a success. At the start of WWII many of these cars were pressed into service. Most were used as run-about's by the Italian and German armies, seeing service in Europe, North Africa and Russia.
The Bronco kit consists of 107 styrene parts molded in tan, 9 styrene parts molded in clear and 20 styrene parts molded in grey for the 2 figures. Also included are 16 photo etch detail parts and markings for 2 vehicles.
All of the parts are molded to the highest standards and feature great details. There is no flash present and seam lines are minimal. The 2 figures feature great details and the faces rival resin figures.
Some key features of the kit are:
- Full engine
- Detailed drive train
- Detailed chassis
- Styrene molded tires
- Positional front wheels
- Hood can be built open or closed
- 2 options for main headlights
- Doors can be built open or closed
- Windows can be built up or down
- Top can be built up or down
This kit is another nice option with the Topolino kit. There should not be any problems during the build.
My sincere thanks to DML for this review sample!
