Many decades after the Star Trek TOS first aired on television, Paramount Studios released the first Star Trek movie and the fans were happy. With the viability of the Star Trek brand proven, Star Trek II would be the original cast's first encounter with the Klingons with a new class of ship and a whole new appearance. The Bird of Prey design that first appeared in Star Trek II would make many appearances in future movies as well as on Star Trek TNG. By the time of STNG, the Klingon Empire was no longer a threat to the Federation (most of the time) and the Romulans had made their appearances as well. The writers had developed a new adversary that was more comedic than threatening in the Ferengi and with them came a whole new design for a spacecraft.

AMT has reissued their adversary set with the Klingon Bird of Prey and the Ferengi Marauder. This kit is the same simple build as its predecessor. The kit is presented on two parts trees molded in light gray styrene plus one small tree of yellow-orange tinted clear parts for the Ferengi ship.

As you can see in the decal sheet, AMT has provided an extensive set of windows and the few marking visible on the craft on their new decal sheet.

It is nice to see this kit back on store shelves again. Very nicely done!
