As the catch-phrase from Monty Python goes: "...and now for something different." Academy has released this fun snap-together project which a demonstration of mechanical engineering and aquatic paddling skills. This is a quick-assembly kit that features a battery-powered robot that paddles its kayak across a pool of water (pool, pond, bathtub, whatever).
The kit is molded in injection-molded styrene and presented as four parts trees, each molded in a different transparent color. The kit also has a one-piece boat hull, pre-assembled motor and gearbox assembly, and a small bag of parts to wire up the battery holder (one AA battery) and power switch. The kit also includes a display stand.
This is a fun project that is a snap (pun intended) to assemble and will be fun for your child to learn a little engineering or as a nice conversation piece on your desk at work or at home.
My sincere thanks to MRC for this review sample!
