First Look
J's Work is an interesting company producing a nice range of details and diorama accessories of use to a wide range of modelers. In this release, we have a silicone rubber mold for producing hex-shaped pavement stones sized to support 1/35 scale dioramas and vignettes. The mold will produce 130 stones per pour.
To use the mold, simply mix up your favorite medium - resin, plaster of Paris, Aves, whatever - and pour it into the mold. It is especially easy if you pre-color your medium to the color of the stones you will be having in your pavement stones (reddish-brown, gray, whatever) and pour it into the mold. When it sets up, simply flex the rubber mold to release the stones and pour another batch, if needed. Next, simply lay the tiles together and use a filler medium for grout. What's nice is that you can also pile these stones up as debris or road damage to reflect artillery craters or whatever. With these, you're not limited by a pre-fabricated diorama base.
You can obtain J's Work details and accessories from Lucky Model.
My sincere thanks to J's Work for this review sample!
