First Look

Wingman Models is back with another interesting set of external stores. In this release, we have a set of six Mk.82 500 pound bombs which can be used to load up individual pylons, two Triple Ejector Racks (TERs) or one Multiple Ejector Rack (MER). These are cast as smooth surface bombs as used by the U.S. Air Force as well as the U.S. Navy before they adopted the coated bombs which provide additional fire protection in the close confines of an aircraft carrier.

Wingman Models 1/48 500lb Mk.82 Bomb Set

This set provides the nicely detailed bombs, tail fins, your choice of two fusing types for each bomb, and a set of bomb stencils. I like the separate castings for the tail fins which means they can easily render the Snakeye tail kits in the future. In addition, you can paint the bomb units and tail sections different colors as you'll see different combinations of gray/gray, green/green, and green/gray bombs. You can also use a slightly textured paint to replicate the fire protection coating on the bomb units only should you want to bomb up an A-6 or F/A-18 (or other) strike aircraft.Get a set or two!

My sincere thanks to  Wingman Models for this review sample!
