First Look
Platz Hobby produces a wide range of kits, decals, and detail sets for the hobby market and are wanting to make their presence better known outside the Japanese market. You might want to take note as if this is an example of their work, you're going to want to procure some of these various products of interest.
In this release, we have a very nice color photo-etch detail set for the cockpit of the 1/72 Italeri MH-53E Sea Dragon. I was starting to be impressed that a second company was coming online with the capability to produce quality color photo-eched details. Then I looked at the bottom of the fret and saw that Eduard produced this set for Platz. Eduard's color printing of photo-etch is second to none.
This set provides a two-layer instrument panel with an overlay with placards and instrument face openings that sits atop a second panel with the instrument faces printed on it. These are accompanied by color photo-etched panels for the center console, overhead console and side consoles. The set also provides additional color-printed sub-panels as well as color printed seatbelts and shoulder harnesses. In short, you'll have plenty to see inside that greenhouse canopy enclosure!
Definitely recommended! This is a nice set to accompany the Platz decal sheet for the JMSDF MH-53E ( look here).
