First Look
At the 2017 IPMS/USA National Convention, I ran into Gary Hatherly of GT Resin who showed me the latest detail sets and conversions for the Zoukei-Mura 1/48 Phantom II kits. With the release of the F-4J, F-4S, F-4C, and most recently, the F-4D, these detail sets will enhance your favorite Z-M Phantom.
Here is their seamless intake conversion for the Phantoms, the white castings are the intake duct and outer intake section. The set also includes the splitter plates and your choice of compressor faces for the early or late versions of the GE J79 engines.
These parts are a drop-in fit for the Zoukei-Mura kit as you can see in the image above. The castings are sharp and ready for installation. This set is for all J79-powered F-4 kits produced by Zoukei-Mura Inc., which as of this date are four variants, but they've announced the long-nosed Phantoms coming in the near future (which these intakes would also work) and have indicated that RAF/Royal Navy may follow (which would use a different intake for these Spey-powered aircraft). GT Resin also makes seamless intake sets for the Academy/Eduard and Hasegawa kits.
