First Look

At the 2014 IPMS/USA National Convention, I ran into Gary Hatherly of GT Resin who happened to have a number of interesting detail sets and conversions for the 1/32 Phantom II. I purchased a few of his sets to add to my pool of resources for the 1/32 F-4E TISEO and 1/32 F-4G Weasel projects using Revell and Tamiya's stock F-4E kits as a starting point. When I saw Gary again at the 2015 IPMS/USA National Convention, I updated him on the initial push on the above project but how it has changed as well. He showed me some of the updates to his current product line and some new releases as well.

F-4 Phantom II Seamless Intakes Set

Here is one of his new releases. This is a seamless intake set designed for the 1/32 Tamiya F-4C/D or F-4E kits (USAF). He also produces the 1/32 Tamiya F-4B/J/N, 1/32 Revell F-4E/F/G kits. These intakes replace the kit parts and provide a seamless duct from intake to engine compressor face. Each set consists of six parts, left/right intakes, left/right splitter plates, and two GE J79 engine faces with the appropriate details for USAF or USN/USMC subjects.

GT Resin products can be purchased through Sprue Brothers' online store. If you've got other 1/32 scale subjects on your bench, you might want to look at his other offerings for the F-4 Phantom II, F-16 Fighting Falcon, F-105 Thunderchief, and the list keeps growing. You'll be seeing these installed in an upcoming project update, stay tuned.

My sincere thanks to GT Resin for this review sample!
