For those of us who've seen the Fisher Model and Pattern release of the 1/32 Hawker Sea Fury (reviewed here), it didn't take much convincing to buy one. The model is absolutely gorgeous out of the box. Early customers for the kit received the standard wing which is a drop-in fit against that beautifully hollow-cast fuselage. Recently, Fisher Models developed a new wing pattern for a folding wing option. If you haven't purchased a Sea Fury kit yet, you can specify fixed or folded wing to be included in your kit.

For the rest of us, Fisher has released this wing set separately so we can adapt our Sea Fury kit to a folded wing bird and I am really impressed how the wing has improved since its original release. The wheel wells were great before, but look at that one-piece casting! WOW!

In this release, the resin center section is indeed a one-piece drop-in replacement to the stock kit wing, and the outboard wing panels are molded separately with wing fold details molded in place as well as the structural tabs. You can see the small details that go up inside to replicate the folding mechanisms and other smaller details. The clear resin lenses for the landing lights, nav lights, etc., are also here as well.

So you're wondering if it will work on the Hobbycraft kit? According to Paul Fisher, the adaptation is minimal. If you've actually cut the wings of your Hobbycraft 1/32 Sea Fury, you've probably noticed the flat upper wing surface and curved lower surface. Nice if you're doing a supercritical wing, not so for a Sea Fury. While it isn't really that visible with the wings extended, once you try to fold that wing, you're going to see that cross-section. This nice wing set will fix that glitch.

Whether you're building the Fisher or Hobbycraft kit, this wing fold set will definitely reduce the shelf space you'll need to park the completed model.

My sincere thanks to Fisher Model and Pattern for this review sample!
