First Look
Fairy Hobby is an aftermarket hobby company from China that produces an interesting array of details, corrections, and figures for the growing number of nice Sino-Soviet aircraft. In this release, we have an interesting correction set for the Academy 1/48 Su-27 single-seat Flanker (though this can be used with any of the 1/48 single-seat Flanker kits out there).
This set consists of a vacuformed canopy/windscreen that corrects the shape of the part over stock kits. In addition, this set provides a single resin part that represents the infrared search-track set that mounts ahead of the windscreen and it has the details of the seeker cast into the part. This is capped with a vacuformed clear dome that finishes the correction.
The instructions are printed in English and also show a replacement radome that may be in the works as a future item (I hope). If you want to pose your canopy open, you'll have to carefully cut the vacuformed canopy and at the moment, Fairy Hobby doesn't provide a spare canopy 'just in case'.
